Yvonne's Bold Bio

Yvonne

I love being a writer.  You are limited only by your imagination.  The act of writing can transport you literally anywhere.  You can move through time, jump to another universe, take a cruise or live the life of a secret agent.
You can be anyone – from a twelve year old sorcerer, to an eighty year old bigamist.  You can be an astronaut, a nurse, a hero or villain; even the President of the United States. You can take on the body of a model or the brains of a scientist.
The world is literally your oyster.  What other interest can offer you this?
Three years ago I stumbled upon a local creative writing class and haven’t looked back since. The class rekindled my love of words and when it finished I joined a local writing group - the Boldwriters, who meet regularly to share their writing and to offer encouragement and friendship.
I am currently working on two adventure novels, targeted at a young teenage audience.  The first draft of my first novel is complete and I am midway through the editing process.  I am also writing a centennial history for a local club.
I enjoy writing short stories.  My claim to fame so far is being awarded second prize in a Writers’ News competition, with my story entitled, ‘An English Rose’.  This should be available to read on their website at www.writersnews.co.uk from March 2009.
It’s a start......
On a personal level I am happily married with two grown up children.  Sadly I had to ‘retire’ from work more than twelve months ago, on health grounds, at the grand old age of 49! However on the plus side, at least that gives me more time for my writing.
